A New Version of Orpheus

Orpheus lived near the beach in Rome and so did other people from Rome. Orpheus loved playing a little harp and flute, and others loved it when he played. Once it was raining to much, that you could hardly go outside. So, one day Orpheus started playing and it stopped raining and the sun came out and everyone was so happy they had a little gathering to celebrate. One week later, Orpheus sat down to see the beatiful view of the ocean. He saw he almost sat on a clam, so he played music to see if there was anything in it . All of a sudden, It opened slowly and there was a pearl. Then it was shinning so bright if you stared at it you would go blind, then a women appeared. It was love at first sight. Her name was Eurydice they were the happiest couple in the beach. One day, Orpheus and Eurydice went outside to the backyard. Eurydice kept on looking were the the water was directed to. Orpheus asked," Why do you keep on looking to that direction?" Eurydice replied," I feel and hear the ocean calling me saying Eurydice come, come, come..." Orpheus didn't let her in the water because he knew there were dangerous creatures in the water. Sometime in that same day everyone gathered in Orpheus's house to celebrate how lucky they were to have everything, but Eurydice went near the water and still heard it calling her name. So she went in the water and felt great. When she finished hanging out in the water she was drying off and yelling Orpheus's name because she brought him a pretty shell when a snake posionus snake bit her. Orpheus came out and saw her on the floor. By the time he waas there she was dead. He carried her in her arms to his house and annouced Eurydice is dead and will give her a proper funeral. They put her in a coffin and put the clam she came out of in her hands to represent her. Then Orpheus said," I shall never play music without her again." Then one of the ladies said," Your music can do anything so use musci to bring her back to life." He thought for a second and he said," I shall do it." So Orpheus went down to the underworld to see Hades and ask to give back his wife. There she was with the clam that represented her. He tried to run but she has already took a boat to Hades, the king of the underworld. So he started playing and another boat came and took him to Hades and his Queen Persephone. There he asked if he can have the love of his life back, but Hades said no. So Orpheus stared playing, but Hades was death to the amazing sound. Persephone heard the music and went through her and wanted to give Eurydice back to Orpheus. So she went on her knees and begged Hades to give her back to Orpheus. So Hades said,"You could have her back, if you walk foward and do not turn back, and if you do she will be mine forever." So he was walking back, he was the a few steps closer until he had to look because he couldn't hear her. So he turned around and her soul went back forever. Orpheus was so depressed he played something so depressing that everyone made a circle around him and killed him. They tore his body lim to lim. They tossed his head into the sea which still sings Eurydice.

Julius Caesar was a very important person. He lead the Roman military. He won many important battles. He also was a political leader. Julius Caesar was the one who turned Rome into an Roman empire. He also made up an expression that says "veni vidi vici". That means "I came, I saw, I conquered." Sadly, he was killed by one of the senators because everyone loved him and he became so powerful that some didn't want him to be king, so he stabbed him 24 times. This is why Julius Caesar was very important.

My favorite Greek Thinker

Pythagoras was the most important Greek thinker. Pythagoras discovered a few things about math and music. He used math and numbers to explain musical notes! He discovered a formula that calculates the length of the sides of a triangle. Pythagoras named the formula after himself. He also made a religious society. It is located in southern Italy. He taught them how to live a good and pure life. He believed this religious society would help them live forever. This is why Pythagoras is the most important Greek thinker.

Hector

In my opinoin I thik Hector did the right thing to fight Achilles. The reasoon why is because he wanted to protect his country and family. In that time, dying in a duel is the hero's best way to die. This symbolizes that Hector is a true hero. I think the reason why Hector accepted Achilles challenge is because everyone in Troy would think of him as a great hero. I would have not done the same thing. The reason why is because I have no experience with fighting with weapons. Also, I would be thinking of my family. I imagine how sad and depressed they would be if they found out I was dead because I agreed to be in a challenge.

The Myth of Osiris

Nun was the only one in earth. All of a sudden a ball of fire fell out of the sky. It stared boiling in the water , then it stopped. Then, something started to rise out of the water. It was a island named Ben-Ben. It was quiet on earth so Ben-Ben had a tree and turned into a human, named Atum. Atum was the first god on earth. Atum was so sad he stared Crying, so two drops fell on the ground, which magically made one god and one goddess. Both of them were Atum's children. The first child was god of air and the second child was goddess of ice. Then they had two children. The oldest child was the god of the sun. The second one was goddess of the moon. The god of the sun and goddess of the moon had three children. The oldest one was named Osiris, king of earth. The middle child was Isis, queen of earth. The youngest one was named Seth, the god of chaos. Chaos means without being in order or organized. Osiris and Isis ruled earth for centuries and one day fell in love with each other. Until Seth became Furious and jealous of Osiris because he had more power than him and he had Isis. So when Osiris went to sleep, Seth made a spear and stabbed his own brother in the back with the spear! which made Seth king of earth, while Osiris became king of the underworld. Seth fell in love with Isis, but she refused to love him because she was still in love with Osiris and Osiris was still in love with Isis. Isis put Osiris body in a special coffin that said ,"Here lies Osirs King of earth where he cared about everything and everyone." So after Osiris found out Seth was iin love with Isis , he sent her a message. The message said to come visit him to the underworld, but someone alive can not come down so she has to find the tallest tree in the island, poor water around the tree, and a special key will appear. Then a door will appear and open and Osiris will be standing there waiting for her to arrive. So Isis carried a jar with water in it, looking for the tallest tree. She found the tallest tree at last, where she was excited to see him, since they were in love. She poured water around the tree and a key appeared and a door and Osiris was there. Then they had a son named Horus. Osiris and Isis wanted Seth to be killed. So Osiris gave Horus a sword he made and Isis and Horus went back. So when Seth went to sleep, Horus got his sword and stabbed him in the back like Seth did to Osiris. This made Horus the king of earth. Osiris was happy to see his son rule earth with his mother.

The Story of Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh's story takes place at Urk. This story is about the journeys, challenges, and battles Gilgamesh faced. HE and his good friend, Enkidu, fight Humbaba, a wild beast. The both worked together and kill the east. Until Enkidu falls on the ground on the way back home. He dreams about the darkness. Their are his dead ancestors. They only ate stone and drank dirt. Humbaba appeared in his dream and cursed Enkidu. After 12 days he became silent and died. Later on, Gilgamesh sees 2 stone creatures and kill the creatures. An old man begins to scold at him because he killed the only 2 creatures that can pass the water. After the old man and Gilgamesh cross the water and as soon as they reach land Gilgamesh sees the ancient one. The ancient one challenges Gilgamesh. Sadly, Gilgamesh lost. To gain his confidence back he had to come back home, dive in the water to get a red plant that will give him his strength back. As soon as he comes out he falls to sleep. A snake ate the red plant. And Gilgamesh says good bye to his only chance.
There are many messages to the story. I think the most important message is to never give up. Like when he was fighting the wild beast,Humaba. Gilgamesh and Enkidu killed Humbaba. He faced many challenges and never gave up. Even when his friend passed away. Gigamesh's story is all about not giving up. This is one of the messages of the story of Gilgamesh.
All the challenges he faced were incredible. Only a great hero would face this. He even fought two stone creatures. He killed the two creatures which would have been hard to do. He also went to the bottom of the river to find this red plant. He went down to get his strength back. He even had a stone tied to his leg when he went down the river. The challenges of Gilgamesh were amazing.
